Zev Guttman (played by Christopher Plummer) is a Holocaust survivor who is living in an old people's home in New York that has dementia. After his wife's passing, he is reminded by his friend Max (played by Martin Landau) that he promised to find a man called Rudy Kurlander, whose real name is Otto Walisch, that was responsible for the death of their families. The plan seems simple, except for the fact that there are four Rudy Kurlanders in North America who fit the description of the man that they're looking for. Zev sets out on the mission to track him down with the help of Max’s handwritten letter and phone calls. At first, everything seems to be going smoothly but after the second Rudy Kurlander turns out to not be the man he’s looking for, things take a turn.
