Forget about contouring, it’s all about strobing these days. The trend that has been adopted by the queen of makeup trends, Kim Kardashian West, has taken over the beauty world. Other celebs like sister Kendall Jenner, Jenniffer Lopez, and Gigi Hadid have all been spotted rocking this illuminating trend.
So what IS strobing?
Whereas contouring involved contouring and shading the hollows of the face, strobing is the evolution of highlighting. This trend focuses on illuminating the skin and highlighting the high points of the face. Here’s how to recreate the trend and make your face glow!
1) Cleanse your skin and apply a generous layer of moisturizer in order to have a good base for your makeup.2) Mix your foundation with an illuminator before applying it to your face. 3) After concealing your dark spots and blemishes with a salmon colored color corrector and a concealer that matches your skin tone, use an illuminating concealer (like the YSL Touche Eclat) under the eyes, down the bridge of the nose, and in an inverted triangle on your forehead (in between your eyebrows). Other points can also include under the brow bone and the cupid’s bow (on top of your lip). 4) With a fan brush, lightly dust a highlighting powder on the high points of your face (top of your cheek bone, under the brow bone and the tip of your nose) to set the illuminating concealer and to add even more glow to your face.5) Set all your makeup with a setting spray; make sure it’s not mattefying. 6) Proceed with caution; do not blind people in the process.
