The seven-time Formula One world champion suffered a severe head injury while skiing in the Alpes in December 2013. He had two operations in January 2014, after which is condition was described as "critical but stable". He stayed in intensive care in a medically induced coma for a period of six months, until he was moved to his home in Lausanne, Switzerland, "to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. Since then, several unconfirmed reports said that his condition was not improving.
No one from the Schumacher family confirmed the news. But according to Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, former chairman of Ferrari, Schumacher will recover from his brain injuries as he is responding to treatment.
