Designer Ali Younes confronted very early on the first practical tests on his dream journey, and so at the age of seven years, he started collecting scraps of fabrics from under his mother’s scissors, which he used to create a dress for his sister’s birthday. This is how he started linking passion and fashion; as for illustration, he then started drawing supermodels on the podium of fashion shows that he saw in a television reportage, all of which was met with encouragement from his family and his teacher at school. His talent for drawing got him to study interior architecture, in order to meet his family’s desires; he considered that art is organically linked in many aspects, being as beautiful and refined in each of its various facets. However, his dream to design clothes rose again 2004, when he saw a fashion show on television of international designer Elie Saab. The collection revived a sense of belonging to the at of fashion, and with Elie Saab as a role model, Ali Younes shifted to designing clothes instead of architecture.
The starting point of his fashion career was in 2005 when he conducted his first big project; his sister’s wedding dress design. The task was a challenge, weaved with nostalgia and self-assertion. With it came a goal, to sparkle and succeed in the Arab gulf, an objective he started fulfilling jus three years later, when he opened his own fashion house in Kuwait with six employees. The label grew and so did the team, and now boasts a team of 53 employees.
Younes launched his first collection in 2009 and instantly sensed achievement thanks to the positive feedback from his clients and numerous fashion magazines of the region. The first official and thoughtful challenge was to design a dress for one of the Arab gulf’s princesses; who asked him to draw and execute her bridal gown in 2010. He created a magnificent gown for the princess that was encrusted with diamonds.
Since then, the designer was able to broaden his horizons as well as his client base. In 2011, he moved to a new studio in Kuwait, a two-floor atelier in the Arabian Gulf Street, which is considered one of the country’s most prestigious streets.
He has since designed for dressed international stars such as Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, Amanda Holden, Jordin Sparks, Aishwarya Rai, and Jeannie Mai!Younes presented his latest collection in the Lebanese capital on October 19th as part of La Mode a Beyrouth!
