The Lebanese, although outraged by the ban, let out a sign of relief that Lebanon did not make it on the big ban list. As news began to spread, another announcement was made about an electronic ban…this time from the UK government stating that they would also be implementing an electronic ban for passengers flying to the UK from the Middle East. This time, the Lebanese were not so lucky; we made it to the list.
Although this is all being done under the umbrella of “safety”, many have been speculating that it is an intentional blow to Middle Eastern airlines (since no other airlines are affected by the US ban), which have been gaining market share due to their competitive prices and great service (something that American airlines apparently cannot keep up with). Whatever the reasoning for the ban, it can be agreed that it will be an inconvenience for all parties involved. As with everything that happens in the world, people took to the World Wide Web to voice their opinions and react to the news of the electronic ban.
