“1982” by Walid Mouaness to Represent Lebanon at the Oscars

Lebanese movies have been getting more and more international attention, especially with the success of Nadine Labaki’s Capernaum that was nominated for countless awards around the world. Next year, Lebanon will have another Academy Award contender, as Walid Mouannes’ “1982” will be competing in the “Best International Feature Film” category.

The drama tells the story of a boyhood crush, set during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon during the summer of 1982. Nadine Labaki is part of the film, as she plays a teacher called Yasmine in the film.
