The most romantic thing on the planet just happened on stage at the 70th Annual Emmy Awards. Glenn Weiss, the director of the Academy Awards, received the award for directing for a variety special at the Emmy’s, and began his speech by thanking his two daughters, explaining he loves them more than they’ll ever know. Sweet, but that was just the beginning. Upon winning his 12th Emmy, Weiss gave an ode to his mom, who passed away two weeks ago. “Part of my heart is broken; I don’t think it will ever be repaired…Mom always believed in looking for the sunshine in things, and she loved my girlfriend Jan.” He then went on to address Jan, who was sitting in the audience, and told her never to lose her sunshine. At this point we were already tearing up. Then, Weiss shocked us all; “You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife.” Chaos ensues and we are all weeping.
