Elie Saab Junior’s huge Lebanon wedding:

the guests, the ceremony, the parties, the magic…

Just a few days ago, son of Elie Saab, Elie Saab Jr, married Christina Mourad in an extravagantly lavish three-day wedding in various locations around Beirut suburbs.

At a time when many Lebanese political leaders and prominent figures choose to hold their children’s weddings abroad – hence depriving the country of important revenues – our beloved and internationally acclaimed Elie Saab chose to host his son’s wedding in his home country, setting a new, very patriotic, example, and reviving the national economy for a few days. And we can only salute him for that!

Three days of events

The festivities were held in a number of locations, on the outskirts of Beirut, including eco-village Le Plateau de Bakish, the exclusive Faqra Club and the church of Bkerké for the ceremony. The Saab family hence sent an outstanding image of Lebanon’s civilization and tourism to the world.

The festivities kicked off with an Oriental-themed pre-wedding party at the Plateau de Bakish country club, to welcome all the guests from here and around the world. The next day, a religious ceremony was held in Bkerké by the Patriarch himself, followed by an evening party in Faqra Club with 1,200 guests, including high-profile personalities and celebrities. The festivities ended with a party at the Saab’s residence in Faqra the next day, from sunset to sunrise.

People, whether invited or not, shared their joy on social media, and avidly looked for news flashes all along the three days. This wedding filled the country’s hotels, restaurants and nightclubs for more than one week before and after the D-day, turning the event into Lebanon’s own royal wedding.

International celebrities and influencers as guests

No one escaped it ! The whole country turned into a huge wedding attended by more than 3,000 guests from inside and outside Lebanon. Among them : Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri, filmmaker Nadine Labaki, top model Karolina Kurkova, Lebanese singer Julia Boutros, “Queen of Burlesque” Dita von Teese, Chantal Thomass, Toni Garrn, Lily Donaldson, Sara Sampaio and Assi Hilani. Legendary Lebanese singers Nancy Ajram and Elissa serenaded the newlyweds.

And there were the gorgeous gowns…

Elie Saab is one of the world’s most admired designers, so, of course, his eldest son’s wedding meant celebrating in style! Indeed, such opulent wedding requires absolute A-game from all players! Starting with the bride herself… Christina wore, not one, but five different Elie Saab gowns over the 3 days. She wore a cream jumpsuit from the F/W 2019/2020 collection with a gold cape, the first day. On the wedding day, she was stunning in an Elie Saab haute couture custom sleeveless tulle embroidered gown made of ivory silk and champagne Lurex threads, embellished with 500,000 sequins, a high-neck bodice and a 4.5-metre train… In the evening, she wore a haute couture gold and beige, rose-heart-shaped corset gown with a voluminous skirt and a 3.5m train inspired by the designer’s haute couture F/W 2019/2020 collection. The gown was embellished with 650,000 gold sequins and 150,000 Swarovski pieces. The last night, she wore an aquamarine silk georgette full-length dress, embellished with a coral-shaped brooch from the haute couture SS 2019 collection. Some serious fairy-tale confection. Simply glamorous! Other high profiled attendees looked straight out of a fairy-tale, embellished and draped in glittering fabrics, frills and thigh-high slits all from the Lebanese designer’s eponymous brand.
