American fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead in an apparent suicide at the age of 55.
Law enforcement officials told CBS News that Kate’s body was found in her New York City apartment on Tuesday morning.
Kate Spade launched her brand in the early 1990s with collections of fashionable handbags with accessible price tags after she quit her job as an accessories editor at Mademoiselle magazine. Kate’s boyfriend-turned-husband, Andy Spade, was also part of her company, as she combines their names to create her brand in 1994. The two left the business in 2007, after selling the company to Liz Claiborne.
