ARZ – THE CEDARS
Located in the North of Lebanon (130 km from Beirut), it is the oldest ski resort in the country, dating back to as early as 1920. Since it is at a higher altitude (2000 m), it has a slightly longer season than the other resorts. It is also very different from the others: it has a beautiful vintage feel. It is a paradise for beginners, as it has several easier slopes. It is also the perfect place for cross-country skiing and snowmobile (ski-doo) trips, thanks to the charming surroundings and nature.
Besides winter sports and activities, the resort offers several après-ski activities and places to visit. The resort provides several accommodation options, some of which are absolutely charming.
Situated at approximately 60 km from Beirut, above Annaya, on a plateau at an altitude between 1750 and 2000 m, Laqlouq is both a winter and summer resort, perfectly well-suited for families. Other than winter sports, you can enjoy places to visit such as Afqa, Balou’ Balaa and it’s natural waterfall.
At only 45 km from Beirut, Mzaar Ski Resort is widely known as the Middle East’s largest ski resort, with 3 domains connected: Refuge, Jonction and Wardeh. Besides its many slopes, lifts and snow activities, Mzaar is home to a large entertainment scene with eclectic restaurants, hip bars and clubs, making it a gathering point for the Lebanese “jet set”.
Known as Faqra Club, the resort is a private ski club, located in the village of Kfardebian, and made of nicely designed chalets and gardens, and offers first class services. With only 4 lifts, it is definitely more of a jet set destination than one for winter sports.
Bakish, it’s simply the charm of Lebanese mountain villages ! Situation at 45 km from Beirut, it mainly is for spending a nice weekend away from the city crowd, though it’s small domain enjoys quality snow. The old village is worth visiting, as it is well preserved.
At 55 km from Beirut, Zaarour is a cute resort prized for its après-ski activities. Ski is available, with a panoramic view over Mount Sannine and the Valley of the Skulls. For a fun and safe winter experience with the family, Zaarour is your destination.
