While pregnant women all over the world may cradle their baby bumps all day long without anyone batting an eyelid, that’s not the case when you’re Meghan Markle. Ever since the Duchess of Sussex stepped out at the British Fashion Awards in December to present her wedding dress designer, Clare Waight Keller, with the British designer of the year award, the former actress has been criticized for how she’s held her growing bump.
Throughout the presentation, Meghan lovingly placed her two hands on her bump, as she stood on stage and watched Clare make her speech.
People called her “such an actress” and asked if she thinks she’s Demi Moore, who famously posed naked on Vanity Fair cradling her baby bump.
Since then, Meghan has appeared out-and-about on numerous royal visits with her hands on her bump, which has bizarrely made a lot of people uncomfortable.
“This is the Duchess of Showbiz we have here,” Jo Elvin, editor of You Magazine told the Daily Mail.
“It smacks to me of a focus that’s contrived and relentlessly photo-op ready. Meghan would be well advised to take the ‘world’s only pregnant woman’ vibes down a notch or two.”
On the other hand, hypnobirthing expert, Katharine Graves, told the Daily Mail that she believes cradling a bump is totally natural and people should stop slamming Meghan for following her natural instincts.
