In these challenging times, the USJ Choir has chosen to proudly stand in solidarity with Lebanon and actively help the community by raising funds through music. The beautiful initiative, “There will always be light”, is a live broadcast fundraising concert featuring Mozart’s immortal Requiem.
USJ CHOIR IN A FEW WORDS
The USJ Choir, conducted by Yasmina Sabbah, assembles over 70 singers and performs a wide repertoire ranging from Renaissance to contemporary choral music. For the charity concert “There will always be light”, the Lebanese Philarmonic Orchestra will be accompanying Soprano Marie-Josée Matar, Mezzo-soprano Grace Medawar, Tenor Rani Ayrouth and Bass Cesar Naassy, together with the 44 members of the Choir, under conductor Yasmina Sabbah.
THE AIM OF THE CONCERT
The aim of this concert is to stand in solidarity, pray for our country and actively help our community by raising funds, through music.
Mozart’s Requiem is one the most important masterpieces of Choral Music! Though Mozart could not complete his Requiem because of his fatal illness, his music has managed to survive despite all the mystery of its completion. We can survive anything, because greatness will always triumph! Performing this immortal masterpiece that has survived centuries and conquered the globe by its beauty, is a reminder that we can get through these difficult times together!
The concert, which will take place in St. Joseph Church Monot (respecting all COVID-19 social distancing rules, with a crowdfunding link, where people can donate. Proceeds will go to helping Lebanese families in need.
It will also be broadcasted live on MTV Lebanon and on USJ Choir social media platforms, on 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎 𝐚𝐭 𝟗:𝟑𝟎 𝐩𝐦, and on the Anghami application !
All proceeds will go to the Lebanese Food Bank and CJC, non-profit organizations which fight and overcome hunger by developing effective Feeding Programs in parallel with Development & Awareness programs to eliminate hunger.
